 Blogpost # 8 Why fast food is bad for your health?

Fast food restaurants are popular because they serve tasty convenient foods for a reasonable price. Many people visit these restaurants frequently to eat their main meals. They don’t realize that these type of food items are bad for health.

According to an article “Fast food still unhealthy: What you can do” from the site www.huffington.com by Dr. Lisa Young, Fast food is known to be high in fat, sugar and salt and frequent consumption of fast food may contriute to a diet of poor quality which may raise a user’s risk for overweight and chronic diseases that are diet related. French fries and burgers are loaded with fat and salt and oversized sodas and other sugary drinks are full of sugar. And most traditional fast food meals are loaded with calories.

Most of the fast food meals contain high levels of saturated fat. This type of fat is mostly derived from animal products such as meat, eggs and butter. Palm oil and coconut oil also contain significant amounts of saturated fat.

People aren’t just eating out on special occasions or weekends anymore. They are eating out all the time. Fast food is simply tasty, ready to cooked meals packaged to go. Fast food has been around since the early 1900’s but its popularity sparked and grew in the 1940’s with the birth of good ole’ Mickey D’s. Quick food priced cheaply. Withing a few years similar fast food operations popped up everywhere in the blink of an eye. To say fast food has a “nutritional value” is an oxymoron. There is absolutely nothing nutritional about fast food. Fast food simply feeds hunger and or your immediate craving. Fast food does not feed your body in the form of usable lasting energy or building materials , the essence your body thrives on for life itself. Fast food is highly processed with a wide array of additives. The concept of fast food is obviously, food ready to eat and served quickly. To ensure fast food’s low cost to the consumer, the fast food products are made with highly-processed ingredients to give it shelf-life, to hold consistency and to enhance flavor.

Hunger is the painful sensation or state of weakness caused by the need of food. Eating fast food is not good to your health.

Eating too much fast food is bad for your health because they contain more calories, more unhealthy fat and more salt. They can lead to obesity, high blood pressure, coronary heart diseases and some health problems.

Before, People used to eat healthy and fresh food prepared at home. However, Today, eating habits have completely changed. Most of the people now eat less healthy food which is fast food such as burgers and fries. Eating fast food is caused by many reasons.
Lifestyle is one of the most effective reasons of eating fast food. Many people work for a long time. They don’t have enough time to prepare their food. For example, usually people have one hour break for lunch when they are working. Therefore, if someone works from 8 am to 4 pm daily and only have one hour break. He/She is not absolutely not going to home and prepare his/her own food, Insted he/she will go to the nearest fast food chain/restaurant and go back to work and that will affect him/her because he/she get used to do this.

Also there are some studies, Drive through restaurants proliferate in many areas of America because convenience sells. The NIH cites a 2005 study from the American Journal of Public Health that found higher rates of obesity in high schools with nearby fast food restaurants. More food in front of you is easy to eat too and enlarged sizes at many chain restaurants also contribute to weight gain. Foods with high sugar or fat content add the most calories to your daily totals and many selections have larger proportions of sugar and fat. According to the USDA high sugar fast foods include regular carbonated beverages and high fat foods include entrees from tacos to burgers to breakfast sandwiches.

Fast food, it is convenient and a tasty addition to a diet, can have serious health and social effects. People should learn to choose fast food carefully and remember the pleasure of eating good food in good company.

Fast food can also be defined as any food that contributes little or no nutrient value to the diet but instead provides excess calories and fat. Fast food is harmful to health. It is a cause of various diseases. And here are some most common disease and other side effects caused by fast food. Obesity means having too much body fat. It is not the same as being overweight, which means weighing too much. Fast food is high in calories and sugar that contribute to increased weight gain. Even small amount of fast food can increase your calorie intake considerably. Heart disease, people who eat fst food four or more times a week up their risk of dying from heart disease by 80 percent. Fast foods create a much higher risk of heart disease because of the high level of saturated or trans fats found in much of the food. Peptic ulcer, also known as PUD it is the most common ulcer of an area of the gastrointestinal tract that is usually acidic and thus extremely painful. Lack of family gathering, fast food does not provide family members opportunity to set and eat at one place. Every one can buy and eat walking in the way, driving a vehicle and during his work in office. Last, Waste of money, fast food consumes too much money as compared to home prepared food. Low income people can hardly afford continous use of fast food. It spends a lot of budget and is also cause of loss of healthy body.

It is true that we can save time in buying or eating fast food but we don’t know that it can also lead us to some health problems.

Therefore, Eating fast food can have a significant impact on ones health. Though many people enjoy eating fast food and think it tastes great, the health consequences can be serious and can range from everything to low energy levels to weight gain and illness.
